Why do I need a password?

Your password is used to secure your data and allow you to retrieve your saved or submitted FAFSA4caster. You are required to create a password on the login page before you begin your FAFSA4caster. Once entered, the password cannot be changed. If at a later time you want to continue working on a saved or submitted FAFSA4caster, your password will be used to verify your identity when we retrieve your record from our secure database.

You can save the FAFSA4caster if you cannot complete it in one session by clicking on the "Save" button located at the bottom of each entry page. You will be able to retrieve a saved FAFSA4caster for up to 45 days. If you want to update a FAFSA4caster you have already submitted, you can retrieve it to make the necessary changes and submit the record again.

You must enter the same password that was used when you created your FAFSA4caster. If you cannot remember your password, you must begin a new FAFSA4caster. Neither Federal Student Aid nor Customer Service can access your password or give you a new password.

You will have to start a new FAFSA4caster if you:

• forget your password
• do not retrieve your saved FAFSA4caster within 45 days
